Life is not a Practice

A Sunday tour with Max. We rode from home through Pfronten(tal) then up Achtal to Engetal and then on up to the Gappenfeldalm over a pass at 1896 meters! We just beat a huge storm to the Alm and spent the next hour huddled next to the fire waiting for the worst to pass (and having a drink and lunch :-)



When the rain was less we set off back down in to the valley and then decided to ride home via Tannheimertal and Wertachtal. In Tannheimertal it rained again but we had jackets and "aren't made of chocolate". In Wertach Max treated me to an ice and then we cycled home around the Grünten lake. It was however flooded so after Max got very wet feet, we took the road home.

The rain has stopped :-) so I was out with the racing bike for a quick "training tour" round the Grüntensee. Added the climb to Mittelber to get a few extra meters of climbing (and a longer descent).

I was hoping for a nice flat ride but the others convinced me that we should "pop up" to the Haslacher Alp. Once we were there we decided to head towards the Herzer Hütte because some one said they had built a wall across the road near the bottom.
It turned out it was a fence at the top.
But as we were up there we took the single trail down to bayerstetten :-)

The night before we were at the legendary Klotz VWF (pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/jon.nesselwang/VWF2010#) and in the morning I was carrying the sports club flag at the Fire Brigade Festival. So in the afternoon I was wide awake and raring to go (after a quick sleep :-)

54 kilometers through stunning Allgäu and Tirol countryside. Green fields surrounded by high mountains. We live in such a beautiful place.

Up to Maria Trost and back down again in pouring rain. Group 1 did it twice because they are heroes but we sheltered in the church for a snack and a drink.

Two people, who shall remain nameless, only managed the 45 meters to the pub - the folowing picture is a clue.

A fantastic evening tour. Only 5 of us out enjoying a stunning and empty Allgäu evening. About the only person we met was a farmers wife out on a tractor ride.

In the evening after work, the whole family went skiing with the sports club. Warm water and great fun.

A Sunday tour as suggested by Jon. We rode up to our favourite Alm in the whole of Ajjgäu. The food and drink was spectacular as always. Thanks Gabi!



Jon had to be back early so he rode straight back from the Alm.

The rest of us then did a high speed descent in to the Iller valley. As we were cycling along beside the river Julius's gear changer suddenly broke for no reason. I waited until he was picked up by his neighbour and then cycled the 25kms home alone along the road.

Sunday morning and I was writing a report for my studies when Jon rang up. He convinced me that an hour on the race bikes would be good for me.

With the Thursday Bikers. Round the Grüntensee then up to the Untere Reuttewannealpe. On to Jungholz and then back home via Stuibental with a stop at the Haslacher Alp.

I'd rather cycle 65km than jog 6.5km.

But today 11 of us from the Nesselwang Sports Club took part in the Wetzer Firmenlauf (http://web167.netzwerteserver2.de/index.php?id=831).



6.5km through the Allgäu countryside with temperatures above 30°C in the shade.
The cracks, including Alison, were up front with the experts but Karin K. Gabi, Moni JS. and I set the aim of surviving and were finished in just under an hour. It was actually quite fun especially the ice cream we decided we had earned.

Out with Group 2 of the Thursday Biking Group. It was hot again so we headed to the Allatsee for a swim.
Swam to the music of pan pipes and then took the high road back home.
