I thought summer had finished but outside is beautiful. Yesterday Jon finished rebuilding my MTB - changing to a folding frame (see https://buruwang.org/2017/10/14/folding-mountainbike-paratrooper/ ) - so today was the perfect day to test it.



It is ten weeks since the last time I was on my MTB and todays trip in no way compared with the 2000 meters of climbing through the Uina Valley (https://neill.blogger.de/stories/2652936/ ) but it reminded me why I love mountain biking. You can go anywhere. You are unstoppable :-)

Today I was hard at work and my colleague (who works part time) sent me a photo of her out cycling. Luckily after work it was still sunny so I went out and took a picture to send to her :-)

I was meant to be spinning this evening but I was the only person on the list so they cancelled it. The sun was shining so instead I went cycling.

My shoulder didn't hurt at all after Saturdays bike ride so I went out and did it again this evening. I was even slower this time but still managed above 20km/h.

They (the doctors and therapist) told me that after six weeks my shoulder would be fully healed and I could start "training it up". So (six weeks and one day after the operation) I was just out for a roadbike ride. Very slowly and very gently and not too far but none the less a bike ride.


As the picture shows autumn is happening.

Life is getting better every day.

Caro has been planning this tour all summer and on Friday my shoulder is being operated on so it was "now or not this year".

We were on the motorway by 04:30 and in Martina (Switzerland) two hours later.



Cycled up the Engadin to Sur En and then up the Uina valley to the Uina Dadaint Alp for breakfast. Then on through the gallery to the Sesvenna hut in Italy. Via Burgeis and Reschen back in to Austria and then back down to the cars.

Three countries in 12 hours

Second day in Vinschgau. Wera had a plan but the cable car only took bikes up before nine or after three o'clock so we needed a new plan.



Decided on the Tarscher Trail. All the up hill was with a chair lift and then an S1-S2 grade trail back downhill.

On Friday night the weather forecast was rain, wet and snow so I drove to Vinschgau to go trailing with Wera, Heidi and Gremml.



Today we did the Holy Hansen trail and the the Aigen Trail. Lots of great trailing, super weather and great fun.

Between the rain today there was a dry spell so we headed off up the Reuttewanne. Unfortunately I was "on duty" today and received an alert on my mobile phone so had to return home to fix it. Just as we got home, it began to rain again.
